Don't Cha

Confidence is the foundation upon which we build our dreams, aspirations, and daily interactions. It influences how we present ourselves to the world and how we perceive our own abilities. At times, however, we all struggle with self-doubt and insecurities. I certainly never would have believed confidence was innate or even achievable when I was younger. I practiced few of the self-care tools I teach nowadays, that is for certain! I was not into eating healthy, sleeping at all, nor any type of meditation, believe it or not! I constantly compared myself to others, had a non-stop vicious inner critic (who was the only one I fed a healthy diet at the time), and I was tyrannically unkind to myself. The one thing I really did have going for me was I loved to exercise. Dancing in particular gave me joy, and was my passion, and since the dance world can be pretty tough, what I lacked in confidence I sure did make up with resilience!

Fortunately, confidence, while innate to a degree, is also something that can be fostered and nourished. You see, I didn't know when I first set foot on a stage some 48 years ago that I'd still be needing to emanate self-confidence on stage (and elsewhere) for the next half century (and longer)! You see, while I hung up my dance shoes a few years back, I still appear in front of audiences...and even sometimes on a stage as a speaker/presenter at hypnosis conferences, and really..."All the world's a stage" holds so true as a hypnotherapist as well because we need to exude confidence to assure our clients that they have got this! All clients truly have all the answers within them, yet they need a confident guide to help facilitate them finding the inner resources they need, and that takes a lot of confidence! Confidence is this work, confidence in myself, confidence in my clients, and confidence that my intuition will lead to find the correct path to guide each very different client down.

My love for this work and the personal journey of transformation that it had (and is still) providing me is why last month's group hypnosis was all about confidence.
